Each Mat Mudra clip is manufactured in Upstate ~ Central New York at a small town factory which specializes in metal fabrication worldwide. This company designs and produces numerous metal hardware and cases all over the world (Dior, Givenchy, Piaget, Tiffany, the Queen of England (really) and more). It is family owned and operated.
Each nameplate is vigilantly hand set and personally arranged prior to the custom fabrication under the direct observation of a qualified metal cutter. The abrasive jet machine is then customized to engrave the nameplate using a high quality garnet as the cutting tool for each individualized order.
Factory description Development and Production of each individual Mat Mudra. It takes approximately 20 minutes alone to program each name.
The machine that cuts the Mat Mudra is an abrasive jet. It uses water pressure booted to 50,000 psi & 80 grit garnet as an abrasive that is introduced into the water stream. The Garnet is the abrasive element that erodes the metal at high speed; the water is the carrier of this energy. The water transports this raw energy allowing the garnet to fragment the metal at a high level speed of erosion. The water steam is .030" in diameter which is the limiting factor in how minute to make the letters. The smaller the letter that is eroded away, the less definition in the font or design.
The metal then has the directional grain applied. This procedure eliminates the burr from the underside and removes the residual halo released from the over spray by the abrasive jet from the anterior surface.
Last, we form the Mat Mudra by compressing the metal within a urethane die that allows the material to form nearly 180 degrees in one stroke.
Each Mat Mudra piece is available in brass, copper or stainless steel. The overall metal fabrication process takes 30 to 45 minutes to formulate depending on the number of letters and alchemical make up.
